Frustrating Baking Sunday

Almond London-tak-jadi...
& Tempeyek kalau-makan-lagi-laju-dari-membuat..
BTW, why named Almond London? London’s recipe? Doesn’t remotely resemble or remind me of London at the very least..

After all the trouble that me & my SIL#1 went through all day long, the end result is frustrating indeed.
I had to search high & low for the baking chocholate – Giant Hypermarket run out stock – can you imagine that? Sume orang buat kuih yg sama ke? Same goes with all the small sundry shops..
You might be thinking what a cheapskate that I’m – I can afford to buy all those kuih after all, but the happiness in the eyes of those kids- Ibu bila nak buat kuih raya? (5-boys only family that’s why I had to pitch in & it’s a yearly tradition), everybody wanting to help & don’t forget I’ve 28 nephews & nieces so 1 box of shop-bought Almond London (everyone’s fav) can be gobble up within 10min!

To my tetamu raya, pls don't ask why our AL is a lil'bit different!
And pls enjoy the tempeyek slowly ok...it took us long time to make it! (and my back is still aching now)

Alhamdulillah, dah cfirm. Boleh la kak nk bg senarai kiriman apa2 yg patut…
…Byk akak nak kirim ni. Salah satunye belacan. Sanggup bawak belacan tak?
…Email je apa2 yg legal- sure sgup! Msk kargo tkpe kan belacan tu?
Moral of the story: Jati diri anak Melayu amatlah kuat, campaklah ke mana pun – belacan jugak yg dicari!

While making cookies yesterday, had to layan this one boy (Std One) so that he can keep on fasting (typical trick – no duit raya klu tak posa penuh ni. Eh, lupa pulak..kan ke maksu tak jadi bagi tahun ni?) & hopefully distracted from the sight & smell of the kuih in the making.
He got lotsa questions like, “Rumah maksu kat mana?” Er, how to explain that I had only temporary abode here & there?
…blahblah…
Then, “Maksu darjah ke tingkatan?” Hahahahahah.. a little motivational speech would be just purrfect here, at least that’s what I thought…
“..blahblah…darjah..blahblah…… tingkatan….blahblah….lepas tu yunibersiti!!”
That boy goes, “Yang nyanyi tu ke?”
Me, “HUH?” (slowly back tracked, oh yunibersiti=siti=nyanyi!) Everybody LOL

While sahur this morning, my bro sternly warned one of the boys, “Makan sayur tu D… apa2 yg dibelek2 letak tepi tu!”

Me – thank God that I’m an adult now (while looking at the sayur keliling pinggan from the fried rice. Heheheh!)
D, Maksu know exactly how you feel – nak meleleh airmata kena makan benda yg kita tak suka makan! But, but vege is good for you – otherwise how you’re going to grow up being strong & healthy aye?
