Yesterday in history

I was explaining my spread of kuih raya to visiting friends (before buka puasa) which included a Sudanese lady. “This is pineapple tart, that one is Almond London, here is Chocolate Cookies – all made by myself (I’m lying here!) blahblah.. and we also have some tapioca crackers here, with and without chillies. But oh-oh, you’re pregnant right so it isn’t good for you coz it’s ‘windy’!” Hahahahahah, everyone is laughing like mad – that is direct translation for you! For want of better word, I used windy to explain ‘berangin’ when actually it should be something to do with flatulence- gassy perhaps? Whatever..

One of my voluntary welfare duties yday was to submit (after sending for pcopying & binding) hard-covered/final thesis on behalf of my friend (who gave birth recently-to a fine young man of 3-long-names belum lagi bapak's name pun 3-long-ones jugak & sabo je lah cikgu2 sekolah esok & time isi borang- & currently in confinement at her home state) to each of her 4 committee members in return for getting their respective signatures.
First, Datin Dr (or is it Dr. @/& Datin?) – berbelit2 lidah nak panggil! Second, a seriously chain-smoking professor (he needs to quit, I really, really like him coz he’s so kind ok); I took the time to explain that it’s not my thesis (less he think it’s mine & causing further embarrassment for me), “..bagi pihak SS. Diakan dah beranak.” He said, “Apa?! Dekan dah beranak?” LOL. BTW, our current dean is a he. I know, my language is so kampong la…
Third, ‘Ustaz’ Dr (or is it Dr. Ustaz, dia cakap pandang bawah je!) – took the opportunity to promote a fund-raising (will advertise tomorrow insyaAllah), “….on behalf of the school….sedekah jariah untuk arwah….Er, klu untuk niatkan waqaf kena RM1000 ke atas..Blahblah..” Later on, as I was driving & thinking back, “Allah…I didn’t mean to sound as if I’m asking for RM1k donation, did I?”
Fourth, another prof who’s not in office the whole day. My friend arranged for me to meet him after office hour near the tennis court complex. I was delayed by about 10 minutes. He was already in the game & asked me to literally ‘masuk court’ to get his sign! Told my friend, “Rasanya ada prof tu kembang idung coz stdnt carik smpai ke padang!” Ceh!
___
My not-so-lucky bro with two-wife met the other lucky bro with two-wife & I guess they couldn’t help it but to talk about the same set of problems. So, now the lucky bro has to make an effort to help reconcile the not-so-lucky bro’s first family as the elder kids aren’t on talking terms with him – cannot even tolerate being in the same car so no balik kampong for last raya!
____
I’ve been wondering since morning about the ‘political & defence analist cum think-tank somebody’ who’s involved in the gruesome murder of that Mongolian lady. My sis too! After smsing around, now I know! Not that femes as in Pak Lah or Che’ Det femes lor! But remember kes pembunuhan isteri kedua Raja Di Hilir (ke Di Hulu) Perak? Sape yg last2 kena tangkap & dihukum? Bukan mastermindnya tapi orang kechik2nya! Ada jugak system immunity ala2 Survivor gitu!
___
Problem with remembering certain names & the appropriate faces/persons. Eli vs Lia. Old no vs new no. I’m confuse & not sure who I’m talking/smsing with. Last2, one msg me, “Akak, saya adalah X yg selalu jogging dgn akak tu. Savekan no baru ni.” Heheheh

me too always remember faces without names. then start guessing ler, try to match the face with a name. teruk betul.

I used to train myself to remember faces and names. Even to a friends' surprise, I would remember their IC no's, birthdays so forth. Ahh... that was then, when I still had some 1,000,000 GB of memory yet to be used. After the numbers added to the age, and after series of incidents I felt shortchanged, I started not to register well in my head.

dlt,
I dah advertise tu..*ahem*

My main prob is I switch names & faces - this ppl that I'm dealing with everyday..no xcuse eh?

Simah,
Ish, malu nak ckp. Ntah2 kito sebayo tak? Juz that I'm less mature (tak kawin so less responsibility mah)so perasan mudo gitu. I'm in my early 30s..(I can see you doing a fast calculation there..heheh)

I really like helping ppl - like my fren said, klu kita permudahkan urusan org, insyaAllah Allah permudahkan urusan kita. But, kita buat or tak buat sesuatu perkara tu bkn kerna harapkan balasan dunia or akhirat tp kerna ALlah SWT jua adanya..itulah yg dikatakan sampai ke peringkat 'ehsan dlm beribadah'..(eh, mcm ustazah pulak pagi2 Jumaat ni)

Prob with names & names tu - I keep up with updates/details of family&friends (besday, bape anak, bila kawin, etc.)in a diary but tiap2 tahun tukar la pulak so berterabur jgk akhirnya.

Gab,
Our mind, blessings from Allah, is much better than the world most fastest super computers. If u can train urself before, why not do the same thing now? Heheheh, (I know - easier said than done)...most of our brain cells are actually dying out of inactivity.
What incidents? Nothing serious I hope...*rememberg pic of otak bersepai atas j/raya*
