Not another costly mistake

Lawak
Venue: Cafeteria, very early in the morning. 2 admin staffs (old school lah). One of them asked the cashier while making payment for the drinks, “Apsal tv tu ada bunyi je takde gambar? Rosak ke?” Kawan dia cepat2 sampuk, “Isy, tu (radio) S-tro lah…” Hihihihihi…
Couldn’t blame the pokcik la. Yelah, tv tu tergantung macam kat restoren mamak nun. Pastu tv kan utk audio and video sekali. Pastu bukan sumo oghang ado s-tro kek ghumah ye tak?

Not another costly mistake (Have I told you about this? -revival)
It happened at kampong. Our garage (thanks to Ayah) can easily accommodated 4 cars & the rest of the compound, another 4 cars (so somebody’s car still has to be park outside if it happens that all nine of us are back together). My sis, the one who stay with mak, wanted to go to her ‘boutique’ as per her usual routine. My other sis, (the one immediately preceding me who also claimed herself to be k.Chu when actually I’m the youngest but then how about the brother who died at birth after me?) was also around with her family. Her son is about 6 or 7 at that time (was it last year? Couldn’t remember, so old already). So, my sis #2 told sis#5 who was busy hanging out the clothes for drying, “Cham, suruh R kuarkan keto kau ni dulu..” Being typical mom, she relayed the message through her son, “Imran, suruh ayah reverse kete.” He is a good boy, really, so he conveyed the message to the father who said something like, “Nantilah kojap..(while lying horizontal so what do you expect?)” So, the boy asked for the car key. The father gave lah.
The next thing we know, “Ya Allah! Cham keto kau ghorak ni haa!!” By the time everybody went out (mak from the kitchen) of the house, the boy was hanging desperately to the open door of the car which was stuck at the gate (Thanks to Allah, otherwise, straight down into the monsoon drain). What he did was to follow ayah’s instruction on how to start the engine (he did this all the time before, with supervision of course); tekan kunci, turun hand brake! And since the front yard slope down towards the gate, the car moved back by itself.
Alhamdulillah, he was ok – perhaps a bit shaken (and bruised due to tersepit celah keto & pagar) but imagine the horror of knowing you did wrong & how much it gonna cost you. (So, Maksu has to come to the rescue this time by lending the money to repair the door) Mak and ayah dia? Toksah cakap la…nasib baik nenek ada. kok tak tu…(slashing motion)
Ironically, she’s not mad because of the damage to the car. More likely to the thought that history might be repeating itself. Her younger boy passed away a few years back after falling down a staircase at her school- baru ‘dapat kaki’. She was devastated. Who wouldn’t be?
Moral of the story: Pikir sendiri daa..

Mau percaya? Sukar nak percaya. It’s prevalent ONLY among the Malays. Apabila melibatkan warisan pusaka, ianya bukan sekadar tanah dan harta benda. Ada juga perkara yang turut diwarisi secara tidak langsung.
I would love to able to point my fingers to something or anything to blame for my current predicament. Alas, it’s all in my head. I need to fight those demons inside my head.
My advisor (she is not only good for academic discussion ok) suggested:
1. Kurangkan ‘maksiat’. E.g. watching tv – certain programmes, there’re lotsa others too.
2. Jgn ada gantung gambar (even those on the side tables) dlm rumah (guilty as charged) – malaikat tak masuk. We all know this but still those graduation photos, cutesy pic of my nephews and nieces are too good to be hide away..
3. Banyakkan solat sunat and baca al-Quran selain yg wajib. Sebelum tidur baca byk surah2 seperti al-Mulk. Adalah menjadi satu kesalahan sekiranya kita meninggalkan amalan2 seperti hafazan ayat2 Quran ibaratnya kuda liar yg lepas dari kekangan (direct quotation from her daughter), etc. etc.

Never even consider wearing your night dress ever for a short distance travel between your house & another house. Accident (might) happen & we can see you through.

It never happen before
I take good care of my MAV. Always check the tyres’ air pressure from time to time. So, one recent morning after filling in the petrol, I thought- why not check again. Gee, I’m not stupid and somehow I always read the meter in kPa so I push the right buttons & proceed to the car. After a few seconds, “Awat tak bunyi2 lagi ni?” I kept on applying pressure to the hose thingie.

“Eh, apsal ni?” HELP!!! Pancit ke? Tadi kuar rumah ok je? (berdasarkan pengalaman, tayar pancit dah 2x dikesan selepas kereta tak bergerak semalaman -unless kena paku besar sangat!)
“Ah long, tolong …” “Kau try dulu la..” (suara mcm maleh yo)
Went back to the control thing, push some more buttons but my tyre already flatten!

HELP!! “Ah long, dtg la..”(keep on calling)

Acted like damsel in distress, and a truck of hi-way patrol guys stopped near me. “Nape kak?” Alahai…malunya but I ain’t bloody stupid.
“Kak salah tekan kot..” (while one of them with the other two looking, trying to put more air pressure into the tyre).
Blahblah…
At last, my saviour came to the rescue. Bukan salah tekan button tapi kena tekan that hose thingie on the tyre kuat2 sampai, “Tengok tangan Ah long ni ha – berbekas nak tekan kuat2!” Tu lah gunanya ada ah bang!

Kisah Nabi Yusuf & Khairunnisa’ (Sebaik2 wanita)
Mutiara Hati tv9:
Aji Darmawan is having an amnesia after the plane accident. Couldn’t even remember his own name. The doctor-in-charge who will eventually (if not already) fall in love with the patient, is Annisa (Khairunnisa’ in full). She gave him the name of Nabi Yusuf since blahblah.. A friend told me, “Ah kak.. sama dengan nama tunang saya!” While her own name is KhairunN..(close resemblance). So, apalagi puaslah menyakat! “Abang Yusufffff…Annisa….” (lagak manja2)
Found out recently that they’re going to have their solemnization in March – way to go & congrats N!!

Confession
Things are not going along well as I intended. I really need help, in a major way. Back at No. 1 (not in a good way).
---
At 7:25am Thursday morning, she messages, “U must see me this morning.” What am I supposed to think? I’d already met her the day before & promise to see her again after two days with the results – finalized.

I couldn’t say no, could I?
Oh, candidate for external examiner ghopenya !
She’s so excited to show to me the communications exchanged between them- she said it’s good for my motivation. Looks like my intended external examiner (for viva) is ever ready. Just where is the thesis? HELP!! (Update: She told me, he is single. Er, so what?)
---
Found out recently, there’s a different between “Do read my paper” vs “Pls comment on my paper.” (hers not mine - this is another graduate student's job spec)

Simah & d,
Really, don't you ever take anything for granted esp. when it involves your kids! Mmglah semua tu qada'& qadar daripada Allah tapi kenalah berikhtiar then only bertawakkal.
Ada satu hadith Nabi(SAW) lebih kurang bermaksud, "Ikat dulu tali unta, pastu baru tawakkal". Get my drift?

Simah,
I (almost) wrecked my own car - it runs in the family. My late ayah slammed his brand-new Kancil into the (same) tiang garage! Heheh..

d,
Before I get to pass the crucial inspection by the external examiner, I need to pass the close scrutiny by the three different & opposing committee members. And I shouldn't forget the possibility that an internal examiner can be a faculty member whom I had per chance slighted. Tolonglah saya Ya Allah...
